9 days. eesh.

i am about as prepared as one can be before leaving the states to live in a south american country for 10 weeks. that feeling of forgetting something is lurking and time is running out to hang out with my friends one last time before i go. i've been through this before only i went to colorado for a year and a half, so i know i can handle it. but still, it seems different that i'm leaving the comforts of america. i'm ready though. God has prepared me for this in so many ways. it even sounds like the hostel down there in matucana is actually better lodging than that little trailer i stayed in all summer in colorado. ;) good times. i loved that trailer.
with it being about 9 days this MAY be my last post before we go. i don't know. this will be a busy week for us for sure. i'm pretty excited because i have 2 more work days left before i go! tuesday night at 9 pm i will be done! wednesday night will be my last night working in my church's youth group until august 5th :( i'm sad about all i'm going to miss out on this summer, but i'm praying and i know that the youth group will grow so much in God this summer!
that's all for now, not much happened this past week, except that i'm packing. same will go for all of next week i'm sure.

  1. You guys are gonna love Matucana! I'm from Appalachian State University and we went there for a week in March and it was such a wonderful experience. God was doing so many incredible things down there and I have heard that it hasn't slowed down. I believe you guys are gonna do many incredible things down there and I will be in continuous prayer for you. Oh, and if you guys are gonna be in the same hostel we were, you aren't gonna have anything to worry about. It is definitely better than a little trailer.

  2. hey randall!
thanks for the comment! honestly, i'm not at all concerned about the hostel down south :) anything would be considered high class compared to the risk of meeting a bear or a rather large cat in the middle of the night to visit some indoor plumbing!
but really, we're so excited to be able to continue the work of you and everyone one else who has recently been apart of HIS doings in matucana! it seems like the people have already seen so much of God's love through you all!
now, about your blog. i love your photographs! the picture of the single tree in "fire" is my favorite. it is currently serving as a beautiful background on my laptop. where was the picture taken?
thanks for your prayers and hopefully we'll be able to keep everyone updated with our 10 week adventure.

  3. Thank you for your nice words. Good point about the bears. "Fire" was actually taken up here in the mountains at a place called dougton park (I probably just butchered that name). Now that I think of it, all of those pictures were taken within around a 40-50 mile radius of my house.
We will all keep you in our prayers and hope to hear some stories from Matucana.
    randall :)
